The Host (2013) Review

I did not expect this movie to be good. I thought it was a sci-fi horror flick at first but as the movie went on, I actually liked it.

Even if there was so many conversation within Melanie’s inner self and the alien overtaking her body, it was actually a good part of the movie showing her struggles to free herself from the alien.

The story goes like this. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

That is from IMDB’s short summary.

A love story? Well, a little. I thought it would be a love triangle but no, just 2 different beings in one body in love with 2 different men.

There is not much action in this movie but all in all it is a good one. Melanie did an amazing job acting this one out.

And I expected the alien’s wish to die to be granted but was surprised that she was placed in another human being, one that had no hope of surviving so in a way as they told her, she gave her life.

The movie did not have a climax since the last part of the scene showed them with other human aliens telling them they switched sides with the humans.

I doubt there would be a sequel to this one though. If there will be, it won’t be another love story type for sure. It will be action packed this time ;).
